PSA Governing Board’s Resolution regarding the “Compact for Excellence in Higher Education”
Unanimously approved on October 9, 2025
The proposed “Compact for Excellence in Higher Education” that the Federal Administration has offered to nine Universities would force those institutions to cede their institutional autonomy, compromise their academic freedom, give up control of their hiring procedures and dictate admission standards, in exchange for preferred treatment. These nine Universities must reject it. All Universities must clearly and unequivocally reject any attempts that compromise their institutional autonomy. Further the PSA Governing Board calls on President Lim and Provost Pelesko to have NJIT join any public efforts led by APLU, AAC&U, AAUP or other national bodies in opposing this compact.
